Happy Birthday to My MacBook Pro
Today my MacBook Pro turned one. Happy Birthday Mac! The MacBook Pro was the perfect choice for me with a combination of power and portability. Sure I may like the power of a Mac Pro (did anyone see Don McAllister's numbers on his eight core machine?) or the portability of a MacBook Air, but for my needs, this machine has been perfect. For a present, I think I will upgrade its hard drive.

Happy birthday to David's MBP! My 3 year old PowerBook sure looked old compared to the new Air!
David, I have about a 13 month old MBP that I use day and night and keeping 25GB or so of the 160 GB drive available is a ongoing hassle. Just curious what the hard drive upgrade options are that you have looked into. I am aware of the build to order upgrade options for a new machine but how are you planning to upgrade your existing machine? Third party vendor, do-it-yourself kit, or does Apple offer a hard drive MBP upgrade? My own issues/hesitation would revolve around (a) time down without the machine and (b) security (confidentiality) of the data on the existing drive.

Harddrive upgrades sure are needed at times, though I'd be reluctant to do one, if I were you. Why? cause you end up having your space vanishing again, at least for me that was always the case. You'll always find something to carry around on your extra harddrive space. I found out for myself, that having less harddrive space makes you clean up that drive quite faster.
