macsparky Free Stuff - The Audioengine AW1 Giveaway and Discount

AudioEngine Button.jpg

First the Swag...

I've received several emails from readers asking me about the Audioengine AW1 Wireless Adapter I recently reviewed. Well guess what? The folks at Audioengine have agreed to give away two of them to Macsparky readers. This isn't one of *those* contests. I promise. All you have to do is head over to Audioengine and look at the AW1 Wireless Adapter. Then post a comment to this thread explaining what you would do with a free AW1 Wireless Adapter. I can't wait to see what ideas everyone has for this great product. Please just one entry per person. This contest is only available to people with a United States shipping address (sorry).

On Friday February 29 (yes.. leap year day), I'll randomly select two names and announce the winners. Audioengine will then ship the winners their free AW-1. See? Easy! No DNA sample required and no "discussion" about the benefits of timeshares.

"But wait ... there's more..."

Audioengine also agreed to give a 10% discount off all of their products to readers using the "Macsparky" discount code. So if you've been looking for some outstanding desktop speakers, a floor shaking subwoofer, or (like me) lusting after the shelftop A5's, now is your moment. Carpe diem.

***********
A further note regarding the contest...

A few people have written me confused on how to enter. All you have to do is put a comment below and leave an email that finds you if you win. I'm going to make a list of all the comments (removing duplicate entries), then number the list, then randomly generate two numbers and those two are the winners. Rather than do the usual "email me" contest, I thought it would be more fun for everyone to post. This is a unique product and I've already got several new ideas on how to use it from your posts.

The winners are picked Friday (contest closes 9pm pacific on Friday) and the winners are announced on Saturday. Good luck!

Wow, that looks cool. I have a music studio in my house, I would use the AW1 to listen to my mixes on all of the different sound systems in my house. Please enter me in the giveaway!

This is a great contest. Thanks for making it available (both MacSparky and Audioengine!). I would love to have the AW1 to send music into my baby's room when he is going to bed. I could then have total control over the playlist he is listening to from the computer in my bedroom. Once he is asleep, I could easily stop the music (or start it again for him if he wakes up). That would be excellent.

Hi! My wife wants to listen to some talk radio while getting ready for work in the morning. I'd like to pipe the radio station output from their website on my office mac right to a little set of powered speakers in the bedroom. I think the AW1 should work well for this, no?
Thanks!

Well, I don't have anything particularly creative that I'd use this product for, but I would love to be able to stream my iTunes library from my iMac without using my Xbox360.

Thanks for the great contest!

I would love a set of AW1s because i am getting some A2s, and I like to blast music, podcasts, and audiobooks while i work out inside. I would like to just bring my macbook with the little AW1 dongle up to my workout room, and not have to hook anything up, just start playing music. I also want a pair to go with the A2s i will put in my room. Please enter me in the contest! Thank you so much David and Audio Engine!!!! I will also be exploiting the 10% off.

Please enter me in this excellent contest. Mostly, I would really like to be able to send my music playlists (controlled from my iPhone) out to a nice set of powered speakers (hopefully A2s purchased with discount) on the deck for use while entertaining as we have not been inclined to incur the cost and compromises inherent in installing hardwired outdoor speakers. Thanks for this chance and for all the great content. Anthony

Correction: For the deck and this application, I would get the A5s.

This would enable me to stream music to my front porch.

February 21, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterTerryC

I'd put tunes out to the hot tub!

February 21, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterkeither48

I'd hook it up to a pair of wireless headphones, and sit at the computer anyways just because I can.

February 21, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterpaul

Maybe I would finally learn how to "stream" something.

I'd resurrect my old turntable and stream sound from the the phono pre-amp across the room to the nook where my A5 speakers are. I just don't have room for the turntable and all records in the nook and I'd trip over a cable... all my records have been collecting dust for a while. Will be nice to revive vinvyl in such a innovative way!

Great gadget! We've just put in ceiling speakers throughout our home and have the receiver for those in the kitchen/tv room all ready to go. This would allow music to flow freely from my iTunes mega-collection. It's so much fun to have a contest to enter -- thanks!

I would connect it to my broken iPhone and speakers so that I can once again listen to my music, videos and podcasts without a headset. I busted the external speaker and dock connector in some freak water and cup holder accident. Haha. Thanks Dave.

Looking ahead towards summer, I would use this to stream music out to the garden where I spend time during the warm summer months. It would save me the time of having to lug and plug speakers out there. That would leave more time for relaxing with a cool beverage in the shade.

Thanks for the contest. Best of luck.

Hi David,

What a cool device. It seems like the perfect way to stream music from my itunes library in the home office to my stereo system upstairs in the living room, which in turn has remote speakers mounted out on the highest level of my 3 level backyard deck.

Hi David, I love the products these guys put out! I can pump my world radio stations thru Airfoil to the basement for workouts! Keep it up, Mike

February 24, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterMikeB

A must accessory for setting up speakers throughout the house.

February 24, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterIsrael S. Oliva

This idea would help so much in the summer when I work out in the garage.

February 24, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterMark S

These are very cool. I would use the AW1's to send music from either my stereo system or MacBook Pro to my basement where our exercise equipment lives. Thanks for the great offer

please enter me for the giveaways

Their products look really cool. I would use the AW1 to stream music from my Mac in the office to my home theater that is on the other side of the house.
